Here I am Lord, I come to do your will.
In Religion, we will be learning about Mary and the Rosary. We will be performing a liturgical dance at the May ay Celebration on Friday, May 28th. Join us if you can! We will continue to read Bible stories, learn about the saints and practice the Our Father, Hail Mary, and other prayers.
For reading, we are using the SuperKids Reading program. We have learned and practiced all of the letters! Remember to check out Superkids online fun! Students may login to play games, practice skills, or even find the pages we are doing in the classroom. If you need login information, please let Ms. Routly know and she will send you login information. Our password picture for SuperKids is a teddy bear.
We also work on Popcorn (sight) words. We will practice ten new words each month. By the end of the school year, we will know 100 popcorn words! In class we review the words daily. A popcorn word list was sent home with curriculum information at the beginning of the year. Please let Ms. Routly know if you need another copy to practice the popcorn words at home. This month's Popcorn words are: find, long, down, day, did, get, come, made, may, part. Please help your child to practice the Popcorn words at home!
Kindergarten will be using New York State's Common Core Listening and Learning Units. Our current unit is about plants. We recently finished our unit called, "Taking Care of the Earth".
For math this year, we are using McGraw-Hill My Math along with games and supplemental materials. We are practing measurement. We will continue to practice addition and subtraction for the rest of this year, too!
We LOVE to watch Mystery Doug. Each week a video is sent to us to watch. They cover a variety of science topics and are fun to watch! Each week, our class gets to vote on a topic to be covered the next week. It is exciting to see which topic will get the most votes and be presented the next week. Besides enjoying Mystery Doug, we are currently learing about the solar system.
Social studies: We read and discuss Studies Weekly (most weeks).
Kindergarten participates in Phys. Ed, Technology, Art, and Music, and Library classes. Specials teachers will be coming into our classrooom to teach their subjects. Technology classes are usually taught in the Technology Lab and PE classes will be held outdoors or in the gym. Students should wear their PE uniform and sneakers on PE days, unless it is a school Mass day. If we have a school Mass on a PE day, please wear your regular school uniform.
